The report will start by explaining the current state of the Clustered File Systems, the implementation they use and some of the limitations they have. The author will then describe 2 new ways of looking at the clustered storage - GFarm and GlusterFS.
The main idea of the presentation is to explain how GlusterFS works, what options it gives you and how it can facilitate your work. You will see how you can use your free space on your server by simply creating a cluster with GlusterFS.
You will learn how to configure GlusterFS in different ways. Every configuration will be detailed so everyone can understand what it does and how it does it. Also some performance suggestions will be presented to you.
You will see a live GlusterFS cluster with at least 4 nodes (maybe more).
At the end of the report you will see the author's benchmarks of the FS and will hear where the GlusterFS project is going, and what is planned for the feature.
System Adminitrators, Architects and Designers who want to experiment with a new way of implementing one very old idea the Shared strorage.
People who already use GlusterFS will not hear anything that isn't discussed in the mailing list.
The information from this report is applicable for creating your own shared storage solution with GlusterFS.
